I can't believe we forgot this in the other post. It must have been long enough already, but this is news that's simply worth posting, so it deserves it's own special note. While we were in Chiang Mai, we also decided that we would make a voyage to the nearest town to the north (about 15km) in the back of a pickup truck to go pet baby tigers... yes, that's what I said: pet baby tigers. What an incredible experience. There's a rehab/breeding center/tourist attraction in this town that affords visitors the ability to be a part of the recreation of young tigers. We spent 15 or so minutes in a big cage with 5 4-6 month old tigers. We'll have some more pictures up on flickr soon if you want to see them. What an experience!!

Hahaha - Leslie you look like you're not quite sure if this is a good idea or not. Pose with cute tigers and have an impressive picture for the blog ooooorrrr risk losing a carotid artery and subsequent circulating blood supply? Miah, however, looks as content as he would on a motorcycle - what a trade! A Wii AND tiger picture! You made off like a bandit!!
I hope the tigers are being raised to go into zoos rather than for wild release. I would expect that level of familiarity with humans automatically to make them rogues who would go into villages with no hint of intimidation.
Dad, that was one of the questions we had as well. There was no way, however that these tigers would be capable of a wild release. As much as we could tell, it was more of an organized breeding program to get the tiger population back to a healthy level.
Just wanted to check and see if you guys had experienced any of the protests going on over there right now...it's on the BBC News today. Baby tigers = awesome!

* First: Leslie, remember that time - it was either at orientation or right after we started at State - that we were leaving a bathroom in Talley and you pulled me over because I had a piece of toilet paper hanging out of my pants?? (Yes, people, that actually HAPPENS. Who knew??)

* Third: We've been eating so much junk lately (e.g., I cooked a Southern brunch for 20 on Sunday) that we decided to go to a salad place for dinner last night. We walked out, feeling pretty good about ourselves and the delicious salads, and then someone said "You know what would be good right now? MILKSHAKES!!" Oh well. We tried :)

Is the situation at the Bangkok airport going to create a problem for your return? How are you routed back?
